Run Outlook Express, cancel any offers to setup accounts.
Select Tools, Accounts, Mail, Add Mail...
On the 'E-mail Server Names' page enter pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk for the incoming mail server and smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk for the outgoing mail server.
When you've finished this, select Properties, Server and tick the 'My server requires authentication' box.
Then select Advanced and tick the 'Leave a copy of messages on server' box, then tick the box 'Remove from server after' 30 days. (This will stop your inbox on the yahoo server from getting too big and refusing more mail)

To send and receive your Hotmail e-mails using Outlook Express as well as via the web you can use the following setup.

You need a program called FreePOPs, to handle incoming e-mails, note this means that outgoing e-mails need to be sent via a standard e-mail host which can handle smtp, the sent e-mails still appear to be sent from your Hotmail account. You can download FreePOPs from http://downloads.sourceforge.net/freepops/FreePOPs-0.2.5-gnutls.exe?modtime=1182540396&big_mirror=0
Run the downloaded program, you then need to start this before you run outlook, this is best down by finding the program
'freepopsd.exe' in C:\Program Files\FreePOPs\freepopsd.exe and right click and 'Create Shortcut'. Then 'Cut' the shortcut and go to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and right click Paste. Rename the shortcut to 'freepopsd', and double click it to run it.
