The Capel, Burn and Bunce tournaments were held on the 15th & 16th Oct 2005 at the Rothamsted Experimental Station in Harpenden. A total of 19 players took part in the event.
The Capel Cup had 6 entries and was run as an all-play-all. It was won for the second successive year by Martin Walker with Paul Byway and Jeremy Fraser-Mitchell equal second. Martin remained unbeaten again this year.
The Burn & Bunce Cups both had an odd number of competitors and were combined into a single section. The Burn Cup was won by Ian Mutton for the third year in a row, Ian was also unbeaten. The Bunce Cup was won by Nick Cornish from Ian Riddoch on a 'sum of progressive scores' tie break.
A loyal but slightly disappointing turn out, although there was very good support from Hertford, Letchworth and WGC. In an ideal situation an even number is required in each section, and at least 8 per section to avoid players from the same club meeting. Any ideas on attracting more entrants and keeping the numbers even would be welcome.
